Peter has a Theatre degree from Warwick University, and then took a course in Design at the Bristol Old Vic.
Peter's recent and current theatre credits include THE DOCTOR'S DILEMMA (National Theatre), NOISES OFF (Old Vic/West End), CRAZY FOR YOU and HELLO, DOLLY! (Regent's Park Open Air), DEATH AND THE MAIDEN, BUTLEY, LOVE STORY, PRICK UP YOUR EARS, ENTERTAINING MR SLOANE, DONKEYS' YEARS, THE DUMB WAITER, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF (West End), LUISE MILLER, SERENADING LOUIE, THE CHALK GARDEN (Donmar Warehouse), UNCLE VANYA, ANTONY AND CLEOPATRA (Chichester Festival Theatre) and THE KNOT OF THE HEART (Almeida). Other theatre design credits include THE 39 STEPS (London, Broadway and worldwide) and productions for the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Royal Court.
Peter has also designed opera for English National Opera and Royal Danish Opera.
Peter's designs for THE 39 STEPS were nominated for Best Scenic Design of a Play and Best Costume Design of a Play at the 2008 Tony Awards. His costume designs for HELLO, DOLLY! received an Olivier Award nomination in 2010. He won the 2012 Olivier Award for Best Costume Design for CRAZY FOR YOU.
